Gingerfeet, India’s answer to Funk Alternative Rock is a five man rock band loved by a massive number of fans all over India and international countries as well. With their energetic performances with different styles every time in their gigs and tours, the band seems to be rocking everyone’s soul.
The band consists of Abhishek on the lead vocals, Dibya and Vedant on the guitars, Lokes on the bass and Abhinandan on drums. Gingerfeet’s noted claim to fame arrived when they emerged as the winners of the Hornbill Festival 2012 and Hard Rock Rising 2013.
“The super group from Calcutta”, is what the famed Rolling Stone magazine reviewed them as.
Unlike most of the bands which are named after some serious searching of ‘sense-making’ words, Gingerfeet got christened after a pair of feet. Abhisek and Lokes realised that their manager’s feet resembled a ginger root. Lo and behold! The band was named.
“We intentionally wanted to name the band funny and we love the name,” they say.
The band music genre is mainly funk rock and hard rock. One of their songs titled ‘Stars’, speaks of UFO sightings by the band members. They believe to have seen UFOs while jamming and also during tours.
“The light trail of the ufo left on the inky sky flicked and turn into a star-like dot and hence the song Stars was created,” shares Dibya.
With their exhilarating performances keeping fans on their toes, the band boasts of enthralling the audience and turning them crazy every time they are on stage.
“When we first when to Hornbill we tore the whole place down,” says Dibya.
The lead vocalist, Abhishek has his own personal share of fame after becoming the finalist at the singing reality show, The Stage (Season 2). His brilliant performances on the show put him under the spotlight with not only the audience but also the judges.
