The man behind beautiful and professional pictures of Miss Sikkim contestants for many years is photographer Akashdeep Gajmer from Gangtok, East Sikkim. Redefining the trend of professional photography in Sikkim and exploring the possibilities in regard to capturing the sights through his lenses is what Akashdeep Gajmer is ace at.

Akashdeep better known as Mr Fotografo, was born and brought up in Gangtok. He completed his schooling from Campion International School, Siliguri and later studied at Delhi College of Photography to sharpen his photography skills.

Be it a person, a thing or a location, he believes that picture shot from a right angle always turns to be beautiful and eye-soothing.

Being a learned fashion photographer, he started his career as an assistant photographer in Amazon, Delhi. Before starting up his own studio, he also worked as a freelance photographer and collaborated in various events. He also participated in various competition within and outside the state of Sikkim.

Later, after gaining much exposure and experience in the field of photography, Akashdeep established his own studio in the name ‘steal my photos’ at Development Area, Gangtok. He has also been the official photographer of Miss Sikkim since 2014.

His works are very much appreciated and talked about in Sikkim. His tagline “no more selfie, Hire a photographer” has been liked, followed and appreciated by mass in state.

Some of his achievements include Free Photography basic course to Lepcha students for 3 months. He was also invited by the State Government as the resource person for photography at Namchi. He was also Nominated as “North-East Person of the Year 2017-18” in the category of Freelance photographer and recently won the 3rd prize at Hee Bermoik Ecotourism Festival photography competition as well.

In addition, he is coming up with a short movie on Atrocities Act 1989 very soon. The passion to capture subjects within a frame still continues and there is lot more on the line. Like his name suggest, he is taking this journey of photography being an idol for many aspiring photographers.
